A lovely well built 5 inch gauge Manor locomotive. Built to the Martin Evans design ‘Torquay Manor’ with slide valve cylinders unlike the full size examples with Piston valves.
The chassis is very well built even though it is missing the remaining coupling rods on the wheels which is what it was like when I purchased the loco. Despite this, the chassis does run on air well and is evidently ‘new’ as it is a little tight and will need the timing adjusted. I can send a video of this. The valve gear, wheels, cylinders and the running boards with the cab are all very well made by the original builder.

The boiler unfortunately does not have any paper work but does show signs of being steamed in the past. All the boiler fittings, including the superheaters, correct type GWR safety valve and regulator have all been removed to allow a hydraulic test to be done. As most people in this hobby know there is always a risk with a boiler which has no paperwork but I am confident, and the previous owner is, that the boiler would be fit for use.

The tender is off another locomotive but is also well built and includes a double ram hand pump in the tank. The plumbing will need completing and the fitment of water valves and fittings will need to be done but otherwise it is ready to go.

There are many additional bits that come with the loco including a scale manifold with scale steam valves from Polly engineering, many scale detailing parts and 2x 5” gauge 24oz GWR injectors from Don Young’s design which are new and unused. There are also a set of name plates and other plates for the loco.

For comparison, a full set of castings from A J Reeves will set you back £3,437.71 which does not include and machining work and all the added extras.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or queries.

Loco is in Radstock which is near Bristol/Bath
